With a sound that’s both emotive and effusive, the Bastards of Fine Arts are a supergroup of sorts consisting of veteran singer-songwriters Matt Keating and Steve Mayone. They make a solid impression, drawing occasional comparisons to Nashville Skyline-era Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Wilco, The Jayhawks... it’s a melodic potpourri that allows for a sumptuous set of songs.

Matt Snyder and bassist/composer Adam Bernstein knew and performed with Perry Robinson (1938-2018). Robinson was a jazz clarinetist and an extraordinary explorer of music who was equally inspired by Pete Seeger, Benny Goodman, Ornette Coleman, and Albert Ayler. Snyder and Bernstein will reveal parts of their work in progress, a recording of music by or associated with Perry Robinson.

Born in the oldest standing synagogue in New York, The Shul Band plays Jewish music with exuberant virtuosity. Rooted in Jewish folk music but drawing on the musical wellsprings of New York City and the whole wide world, the quintet and their musical friends aspire to transcend their sources and create compelling, moving music with every performance. From Klezmer to Kashmir, liturgical melodies to Israeli dances, The Shul Band is equally prayerful and raucous, meditative and joyful.
