Community Candle Lightings
The Shul of New York is a participatory congregation. Once a month on Shabbat in lieu of a Shabbat service, a member of the Shul community leads a short candle lighting ceremony on Zoom. Leaders are guided by a brief outline developed by our Hazzan Adam Feder, which includes the Shabbat candle blessing, kaddish and kiddush, and leaves room for each leader to be as creative as they wish. It’s a beautiful way to start Shabbat in community. If you’re interested in leading or to learn more, please contact
