Supporting Your LGBTQ+ Loved Ones:
LGBTQ Equality in Jewish Life
Sponsored by the Shul Justice Project and presented by Keshet
May 23, 2023, 7:00pm on Zoom
Keshet, an organization that works for the full equality of all LGBTQ+ Jews and their families in Jewish life to help foster a more inclusive community, is offering a very special workshop sponsored by the Shul Justice Project on May 23.
Are you a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or other loved one
of an LGBTQ+ young person?
Do you want to learn more about how to celebrate them
and how to show you love them for who they are?
We know, like us, you would do anything to make their path in life smoother, especially now, when there is so much hostility and discrimination in parts of our country. It’s not always easy.
The issues they’re grappling with, the words and terms they’re using, are still new to many of us, and can be confusing. Join us for an informative and fun “LGBTQ+ 101” that’s geared toward you!
In this 90-minute workshop, you will learn to:
-
Identify and understand the core terms and concepts related to LGBTQ+ identities.
-
Make connections between LGBTQ+ equality and Jewish values.
-
Understand the importance of building explicitly LGBTQ+ affirming communities.
-
Identify ways that all community members can be part of building LGBTQ+ affirming culture.
